Disgrace: the condition of one fallen from grace.

She is my forbidden fruit. The one temptation I cannot resist.

The first night…

I rescued her from an attack in the seedy underground of New York City.

The second night…

She told me the first of many lies.

She thinks she can keep me out of her world, but she’s in over her head.
Watching her, being near her, it gives breath to something dark inside me.
Something primal and forbidden. Forbidden to me.

Because in six months, I’ll be an ordained priest.

And she complicates things.

She thinks she is my disgrace. Truth is, my fall had begun the moment I’d laid
eyes on her.

  1. With covers like this I find myself NEVER remembering the title of the book!!!! 😂 heck I don’t even think I looked at it….. too much else to look at!

Right!? That’s the funny part. I’ll remember a book cover before I remember the name of the book. To the point that if an author uses a stock photo and another ones uses it, I think it’s the same book sometimes.

      1. Hahahha! That would get so confusing if they used the same photo! Thankfully romance covers have much improved since the 80’s 😂

Yeah, I’m glad we’re out of the 80’s bodice ripper covers. Fabio with different hair colors was like, “Oh, okay.” Zebra was famous for those covers. lol

      3. I wonder how many covers that man was on – seriously! He was everywhere! When I see him in random commercials I can’t help but get flashbacks to my moms bookshelves when I was a kid 😂

Funny you say that. They had a thing on TV not to long back about him and how many covers he’d done. I can’t remember how many they said, I know it was somewhere in the top 100s.

He also wrote books, which not many people know. They weren’t bad books either! I read Pirate when I was in my early 20s and loved the dang thing. 😀

      5. He wrote?? I had no idea! Was he on the cover too? That would be the most epic thing ever. I’m googling now……. 😂

Yup, he wrote! Pirate is the only one I ever read, and when I actually got it from my library (ugh it’s been so long ago I still lived in CA and had an amazing library nearby) I had NO CLUE he wrote it. I read it like, “Wow, this is pretty darn good.” Especially because I was thinking, “Oh, this is going to be something like an 80s bodice ripper. Good times.” I’ve actually reread it, which was surprising.

I might consider rereading it again. Sometimes I like to see how my tastes in books have changed by doing that, or reading something I loved to figure out why I did.

      7. Well it’s kind of good to know that you read it and liked it before you were influenced by knowing who wrote it! I’m definitely going to check it out!

That’s the truth because frankly, I’d have been more skeptical and more … I’m not sure what the word I’m looking for is here. I may have just looked at it differently. Not to mention, it’s a man, writing romance. Which I think is awesome, but back when I read it, it was practically unheard of to have a man write just straight romance genre stuff. Pirate is def a chick flick in a book, but with explosions, pirates and stuff. 😉

      9. Ok now that does sound interesting! And like you said, a man to write a romance novel is in itself quite unique!

      10. Omg!!!! He is on the cover of his own books!! 😂 oh this is the best thing ever! Now I need to read one…… I’m not really that much into romance but this begs to be read!

      11. Amber says:

Right!? On one hand it’s like, really? On the other, he’s the most famous cover model the romance genre has ever had. If you look back at how they used to do covers, the man saved himself some money putting himself on them. 😉

As for reading any of them, total novelty because I mean … Fabio wrote it. LOL As for not reading romance … Obviously I can’t say that. 😛 Hehe
