I did something today and if you follow WHR, you already know what that is. For the last week or so I’ve been shopping around for a new blog layout. I love the old one, I mean, I built that one from the ground up. I designed all the graphics and everything myself. I was happy with it until I wasn’t.
The problem with the old layout is that there were things you just could not do. You had to have a full post, you couldn’t excerpt them, and the more button on them was wonky. The graphics often showed up wrong when pulled from WordPress to Twitter or Facebook. Sometimes it just showed the wrong thing on the WP reader as well. I mean, we set a feature image for a reason, right? I also couldn’t set link color, even when I had an upgraded package and could customize even more. I downgraded, needless to say.
This layout just allows me to customize so much more while making it more organized. Menus, lists, add more widgets and content, etc. So for now, I’m giving it a try. I may actually change back if I don’t like it overall.
Some things I don’t like and probably the main thing. I can’t customize the color. So the blog is either going to get a color redo, with some added in, or it’ll stay like this, grays on blacks. I don’t like this because you can’t see the links, they aren’t highlighted. I’m also trying to get over all this white after having a grayish background and a small area of cream color where my text was.
Just hang with me while I figure this one out some more. It may be a bit of a construction zone for awhile.
P.S. This may go through a few changes before I -love- it again.
