A is for Abbreviations!

Book  World Abbreviations – That is!

Do you ever come across an abbreviation in a review that completely confuses you? You sit and wonder, trying to figure out what in the world the person is talking about? Well, have no fear, A-to-Z Challenge is here! I decided for the letter A I would give definitions for each abbreviation that you might see. Enjoy!

  • ARC – Advanced Reading Copy
  • ASIN – Amazon Standard Identification Number
  • B&N – Barns & Noble
  • b&w – Black & White
  • BAM – Books-A-Million
  • BB – Book Boyfriend
  • BOMC – Book of the Month Club
  • BR – Buddy Read
  • DNF – Did Not Finish
  • eARC – An electronic copy of a book
  • ed – Edition
  • F – Female
  • F/F – Female/Female
  • GR – Goodreads
  • H – Hero
  • h – Heroine (Yes, the size matters. :P)
  • HEA – Happily Ever After
  • ISBN – International Standard Book Number
  • lp – Large Print
  • ltd – Limited (Usually referring to Limited Editions)
  • M – Male
  • M/M – Male/Male
  • NA – New Adult (Typically this is college age)
  • op – Out of Print
  • PB – Paperback
  • POV – Point-of-View
  • pub – Publisher or Published
  • ser – Series
  • UCB – Ugly Cry Book (A book that makes you cry uncontrollably)
  • vol – Volume
  • WIP – Work In Progress
  • YA – Young Adult (Under 18 reading)

      It’s bad when you have to have an abbreviation for it, right? So bad that it’s funny. 😉 Really though, I read A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole recently. I ugly cried from about 5% in, until the end of it. It’s definitely and UCB however, it is also an absolutely amazing book too.
