We officially made it to the end of October, we’ve set back our clocks and it’s officially November. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve had a pretty crazy month and a half. Some of you may have noticed that my reviews have slowed down, basically stopped in the last two weeks, I wanted to explain that before I jumped into what all I read last month.
I’m still reading, and yes, I’m still reviewing, it’s just at a slower pace then I would like. I’ve had so many doctors appointments this month, so many blood draws (six to be exact, one of which recently sent me to the E.R.), a CT scan and a slew of other junk. We are currently still trying to figure out what is going on with me, hence all the testing. Meh. By the time I get home from the appointments, and the gym, I’m pretty much toast.
I was hoping since November is a new month, and I know more now then I did last month, I’d have a better handle on it. That hasn’t been the case. So things are going to be sporadic for November, if you can’t tell, since it’s almost mid month and you’re just now getting my October round-up. Random Thursdays will be back and the new release posts in December, although it may be mid-December for it. I’ve got some other new things planned as well. I promise, I’m not stopping the reviews though, I just may have to shuffle things around.
Anyway, now that that’s all babbled about, my reads for the month are below.
Kulti by Mariana Zapata – 3 Star
Thinking back on this book, I can still remember the plot almost clear a day. I’m not sure why I didn’t rate it higher, truth be told. It is an extremely long book, but it did keep my attention. I loved the characters in it too.
Bang by Joanna Blake – 3 Star
This one is about a pron star folks. Yeah, you read that right. I was basically bored when I went into this book, and it didn’t end up that bad. I will say it’s insta-love, it also is a very short book. It has another book tacked into the back of it, that I can’t even recall at this point, that makes it seem longer than it is.
The Perfect Game by J. Sterling – 3 Star
Where do I even begin. I had insanely high hopes for this book. I heard about it a lot, I left a mini review on GR as well, but no full review on the blog. I liked this book, I did not love this book. There was so much going on in it and at times I just wanted to smack the shit out of the hero. Yeah, you read that right. Spoiler alert, he gets stupid drunk and cheats. That’s one plot line/hook that i really dislike. Is he redeemed? Yes, but it just didn’t work for me after that, I couldn’t read the guy the same way.
Truth or Beard by Penny Reid – 3 Star
Yet another book I had extremely high hopes for and didn’t get my socks blown off by. Sometimes I think it’s a determent to read the reviews on GR before I go into a book. I liked it, but I didn’t love. There isn’t a review on the blog for it either, but a short one on my GR.
Revved by Sherilee Gray – 5 Star
You will find a review for Revved on my blog. I loved this book, if you can’t tell. It’s a continuation of a series I’d started. It completely did not disappoint.
Always Will by Melanie Jacobson – 3 Star
There is a review of this on the blog! To be fair, at this point, I can’t really remember the book without going back to read the synopsis. So, on that standpoint, it was a good read, but not something that stuck with me.
His Fantasy Girl by Nina Croft – 3 Star
My review of His Fantasy Girl is on the blog! This book was interesting, even with the three star rating, don’t let it fool you. The plot is different, and was far better then I thought it would be. I really enjoyed it, it just didn’t wow me.
Gable by Harper Bentley – 4 Star
Oh Gable… this is one of those books I wish I’d had the time to do a full review on. It was great! In fact, I have the next two books in the series on my TBR. It’s one I’d recommend for sure.
The Mistake by Elle Kennedy – 4 Star
Be still my heart, Elle Kennedy. I love her books, and this one was right up there with the rest of them. I was more than happy with this being the second book in a series. You won’t find a review on the blog, but there is a few works on GR about it.
Fallen Crest Family by Tijan – 4 Star
This was a book I actually had on my review list and I don’t have time to fully review it. I might go back and do one at some point, but right not it’s not going to happen. I also haven’t read the next book yet, due to not reviewing it. So, we’ll see where that goes. FCF in particular was a continuation on the first book. You got more of the story, and you found a lot more too.
Lace Up by Shae Ross – 4 Star
This one IS getting a review. I just haven’t gotten around to writing it yet, or had the chance. I loved it though and I wish I’d read this before I read the second book in the series. It explained SO much more and actually made me like the second book more than I already do.
Elicit by Rachel Van Dyken – 4 Star
You won’t find a review for this one. I have to admit, this series is a purely pleasure read. I read it for me and not to review. I love it though and it is one I highly recommend.
Enamor by Rachel Van Dyken – 4 Star
Enamored is another book like the one above, they are both in the same series. It’s become my go-to when I’m looking for something different.
The Lessons by Elizabeth Brown – 4 Star
The Lessons was an ARC I picked up mid-October. It’s already out and has been out for awhile. This book was definitely not what I expected. It was very good and on a topic that you normally don’t hear about. Extremely well done. There will be a full review of it up on the blog ASAP.
Jase by M.S. Fields – 3 Star
You won’t find a blog review for Jase, but you will find notes I left for it on GR. I wasn’t too crazy about this book, or the hero… but I can’t call it a bad book either. I just felt dropped into the middle of something with no clue what was going on for most of it.
Cash by Eve Jagger – 4 Star
On a completely serious note.. I cannot wait for the rest of this series! This is another set of books I wish I had time to fully review because I loved this one! You’ll find comments and notes on my GR. I may be coming back to it, or probably reviewing the next book in the series.
Tricks by Cambria Hebert – 5 Star
Do I even need to go into this one, y’all. It’s Cambria Hebert. 😛 There will be a review up on it ASAP. I loved it! In fact, if you’ve ever read Text, which is #4 in the Take It Off series, you’ll have met this hero before. 😀 It’s Tucker! I was extremely excited that he got his own book. Mind you, it is a standalone and you don’t need to have read Text to read Tricks.
Fighting the Fall by Jennifer Snow – 4 Star
There is a full review of Fighting The Fall on the blog! It was an ARC that I had and it’s actually the second book in a series. The first book is on the blog also! Both of them were great, but I liked this one more than the first one.
Temptation & Tequila by Elizabeth Bemis – 4 Star
This one is an ARC that I got mid-October as well! The review for it will be up ASAP, in fact, I’m working on it currently. So stay tuned for it.
A Friendly Arrangement by Christine Warner – 3 Star
Yet another ARC! You will find the review on the blog. This one I was torn over, it was a second chance romance but read like they’d never met before. That threw me off, outside of that, great story.
Dirty English by Ilsa Madden Mills – 3 Star
Absolutely and completely a guilty pleasure read. I really enjoyed this book but you won’t find a full review of it on the blog. There are notes on GR however if you’re curious.
His Temporary Fix by Sofia Grey – 3 Star
Yet another ARC that you’ll find a full review on the blog for. I liked this book, I didn’t love this book. It was great, but could have been more fleshed out. My biggest complaint about, it was too short and I wanted more story! I’d still fully recommend it though.
His Work of Art by Shannyn Schroeder – 4 Star
This one will have a review up shortly. The book is already out but I had an ARC for it. I would highly recommend it though. The plot is different and intriguing… it’s about comic books!
Once Kissed by Cecy Robson – 4 Star
Another ARC that has a review that is a work in progress. I have them all up, I just need to write out review content. I loved this one though!
Bad Boy Daddy by Chance Carter – 3 Star
There won’t be a full review on this one but there are notes on GR. If you’ve read my Random Thursday posts, this was one of the books with the names that make you go “What?”. On a lark, I decided to read it. If you can get past some of the wordage in it that made me roll my eyes until I almost pulled them out of my head and started tossing them on the ground like dice… the plot is actually good.
Tryst by Cambria Hebert – 5 Star
Once again I have to state, it’s Cambria Hebert, y’all. I love her books and her writing! Tryst is probably one of my favorite books in the whole TIO series. There will be a review up for this one ASAP.
Borden 2 by R. J. Lewis – 4 Star
There is no review on this one, but I loved it! I waited for it with baited breath basically, until it came out. It’s the continuation of a cliffhanger. It was well worth the wait!
#Nerd by Cambria Hebert – 5 Star (Anniversary Reread)
Just a fun reread! There is already a review of #Nerd on the blog from when I first read it. If nothing else, I just fall more in love with this series.
The Charlotte Chronicles by Jen Frederick – 5 Star
This book at times was nearly heart breaking and made me ugly cry. I loved it, it was awesome. That being said, I don’t have a full review of it. It’s one I’m hoping I get the chance to write one for before long!
Paper Hearts by Clarie Contreras – 4 Star
Another book that had me in tears, and blew my mind. I’m not sure I’ll ever do a full review on it, but I loved it and would highly recommend.
