He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.

Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.

All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.

Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.

Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.

She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.

Sultry Groove is the fourth book in Eden Summer’s Reckless Beat series. It is written from a third person POV and alternates between the main characters. It does have an HEA, no cliffhanger unless you count the sprinkling of hints you get about the next book in the series, and it can fully be read as a standalone novel.

This is one of those series that I absolutely love, and it is in my favorites pile. What does that mean exactly? That I’m super picky with the content. I’ll admit that I’m biased with these books but I also expect a lot from them. I expect them to wow me. Sultry Groove did a great job of that. It didn’t knock my socks off like I was expecting or hoping, but I still loved it. I’m glad that Sean finally got his story and his time in the spotlight. I’m also beyond glad that he found someone and got his own HEA.

Out of all the members in Reckless Beat, Sean was the one I first drawn too. I could not wait for his book! So by the time we got to it, I did have really high expectations for him and it was going to take one heck of a heroine for me to think he got what he deserved. Sean has been through so much, he’s been overlooked, bypassed and what not, but the guy has an absolute heart of gold. When I say he doesn’t love easily, he doesn’t. He loves with his whole heart and he would give the shirt off his back of one of his friends needed it. Even people that are beyond loyal get fed up with how thing are sometimes though, and staying in the shadows to make sure that things are peachy for everyone else.

Melody wasn’t someone Sean was expecting to step into his path. Especially not where he was with his frame of mind at the point of the book starting. As for Melody, she doesn’t want to have anything to do with anyone. Just let her run her studio and forget that she was a world renowned dancer. She has secrets and problems of her own to over come, but she is a fighter. She’s definitely a character that impressed me.

Sean and Melody go into this basically not wanting anything from the other. Sean wants his five minutes in the spotlight, and Melody just wants to teach him the dance and walk off. That is, until they actually meet, and the sparks fly. The best way to describe it is that these two fight each other, to fight for each other, but don’t realize that they are doing so. Somewhat confusing to try to explain but it makes for a great read!

I went back and forth on the rating, and settled on four stars. Mainly because it didn’t make me put down the book and squeak happily over it. Sure,I loved it, but I wasn’t over the  moon for it. I -am- excited with the ending of it however, and to see the rest of the cast of Reckless Beat. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
