★ SYNOPSIS ★
Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.
Cam hangs out almost exclusively with dudes, and that’s fine by her. She’d much rather be shredding at the Olympics than primping in the mirror. Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.

★ MY REVIEW ★
Fair warning as you read this review. I just start thinking about this book and I get crazy level excited. To the point where I start to gibber nonsensically. I’m not even joking. Slashed is one heck of an amazing book. I’ve read Tracy Wolff novels before and this is hands down, my absolute favorite that I’ve ever read by her. If you’ve read the book’s synopsis, it follows pretty close to the storyline and does a great job of describing the book. The cover of the book.. have you seen the cover of the book?! It’s, in my opinion, gorgeous.
I basically started the book and I actually thought it was about werewolves. Why? I’m not not sure, I didn’t even peek at the synopsis. So I was sitting here for the first three chapters going, he’s a wolf, isn’t he? He got attacked or something! Nope, and thank goodness. This book is straight up about based around a couple and snowboarding. That alone makes me super excited to the point that I’m jumping up and down. Plot wise, it’s really rare to see a romance sports book about snowboarding. That meant it was different for me and I was hooked. Did I mention it’s also a second chance romance!? Just slay me now. I didn’t put the book down even once.
What will you find in Slashed? A lot of this!
Some of this, because our hero is best at street style…
And we can’t forget a whole lot of this!
Needless to say, I’m pretty much like this over Slashed.
Technical information wise, this is the third book in Tracy Wolff’s Extreme Risk series. It can be read as a standalone, you won’t miss anything. It does have an HEA and it’s told from alternative first person POVs between the main characters.
Not only did I love the setting, plot and the sport within the book, I loved that our heroine, Cam, is a hardcore snowboarder too. She doesn’t just sit back and let the guys have the fun, nope, she gets out there and has fun too. Sometimes even besting the guys! She’s tough on the outside and pretty much a marshmallow in the inside with a will of steel. In the book, she’s one of the best female snowboarders there is. A complete tomboy she has no idea or even inkling of her own allure.
Luc is probably one of my favorite heros to date. Definitely book boyfriend material. He came off to me as the strong, silent type. He’s been in love with Cam for years, and sat by and watched her pine after someone else. He doesn’t think he’s good enough, and actually thinks he’s friends don’t think he is. He’s the definite underdog in their crew and it just makes you want to cuddle him and root for him. Luc has an inner strength though too, he may go about things differently, and be down on himself, but he’s also loyal, with a huge heart.
It’s almost funny to read at first because it’s like Luc is in love with Cam, who is in love with Z, who is in love with his GF. Yes, there is drama, some angst (They don’t overdo it on the angst train), situations that make you boggle. I do want to point out that there is NO cheating in this book. I felt it needed to be said, because of the whole plot line. In some instances you might want to bash the main characters with your Kindle and tell them to communicate better. 😉 There is a huge a amount of attraction between Cam and Luc, and it makes you wonder which one is going to tumble first.
Hands down, a five star read for me. Hopefully all of that made sense because like I said, I get way too excited over this book. I do plan to go back and read the rest of the series as soon as I can. I’m completely and totally hooked. I would most definitely recommend reading this one. It’s fresh, it’s different and it’s fun.
