★ MY REVIEW ★
Under His Skin is by new-to-me author Stacey O’Neale. This is the very first book I’ve read by Miss O’Neale and don’t let my rating on it fool you. It may only be a three star but I loved this book! It is well written in alternating third person point-of-view, and I’m not even going to fib here. I’m excited for books about the main heros brothers already. Lets not forget to even mention that book cover! It’s fantastic!
In particular, Under His Skin is about a bakery owner who has fallen in love with her best friend. I don’t know about you, but I love friends to lovers tropes. The fact that this one had a pretty neat twist to it, and it was well done, as well as well plotted out, made it even better. The thing about this is that, Annabelle doesn’t know everything and Kaden has a pretty big secret.
How do you fall in love with a human and not realize you have? Sure, you know you’re lusting after her, but actually fall in love? Kaden, our hero, is sort of… oblivious. He’s strong, handsome, Annabelle can’t seem to not drool over him but he’s also loyal and a great friend. Oh, and he’s an alien. (I won’t give you backstory on why he’s on Earth, that would be spoilers!)
Annabelle and Kaden have been close, near to inseparable since the first day the met. There are feelings there, but Kaden denies them while Annabelle things he’s just immune to her. So her best friend sets her up on date, which Kaden doesn’t like, not in the least, and it all implodes from there. Classic story of loving someone and keeping them at bay because you DO love them and thinking you’re protecting them.
So again, I rated it a 3 star, but in truth I’d lean more toward 3.5. It really is a great boo, and if the brothers get written about it’s definitely a series to read. I know I’ll be watching for that!
