★ SYNOPSIS ★

Sometimes all a girl needs is a little practice…

It’s been twelve months, three days, and eleven hours since accounting student Scarlett Logan made it past a second date. A pitcher of mojitos in hand, she employs her supreme graphing skills to narrow things down to one horrifying explanation. Kissing. Clearly someone needs to teach her how to kiss properly. Like, say, her best friend and roomie, Finn Mackenzie. He’s safe, he’s convenient, and yeah, maybe just a little gorgeous.

Finn knows exactly why Scarlett’s boyfriends are disappearing quickly. Him. Not a single guy she’s brought home is nearly good enough. And he’ll be damned if he lets some loser give her “kissing lessons.” No. He’ll do the honors, thank you very much. The moment their lips touch, though, everything turns upside down. But Scarlett deserves the one thing Finn can’t give her. And if he doesn’t put an end to the sexy little shenanigans, he’ll teach Scarlett the hardest lesson of all…heartbreak.

★ MY REVIEW ★

The Finn Factor

Wow! I’m just going to come right out and say that I absolutely loved this book. The Finn Factor is by new-to-me author Rachel Bailey. It is a standalone novel and does have an HEA. I feel it is crucial to tell you all that, because of the amount of angst in this book. It’s a full on, holy crap where did this come from, friends to lovers, angst fest. It is extremely well written and you have dual first-person point-of-views.

Lets get down to the nitty gritty, shall we? Scarlett and Finn have been roommates for closet two years now. When I say that they have a completely platonic friendship, I couldn’t be more serious. These two are not even on each others radar. While they both know and will tell you that the other is attractive and appealing, they just don’t see each other in that light.

Scarlett keeps going on these dates with guys that Finn doesn’t “approve” of. So, he runs them off, literally. Not that he’s telling Scarlett about this, she’s clueless. She drags around after the latest date thinking she’s broken. (The Mojitos don’t help.) This girl is a graph-loving bundle of hormones. What does she do? She sits down and graphs it all out while dragging Finn along for the graphing adventure. He’s obviously reluctant but whats a best friend to do? Scarlett lists every date she’s ever been on, including if she kissed them or not. Coming to her own conclusions, she decided she is “broken” and she obviously needs kissing lessons. Guys kiss her and she never sees them again. Toxic lip syndrome! She’s convinced of it.

Finn is extremely over protective, he’s taken it upon himself to be the judge, jury and basically executioner of Scarlett’s dates. They vanish and he knows why, he sends them packing. It has nothing to do with Scarlett and everything to do with him thinking they aren’t good enough for her. He puts his foot in it when Scarlett enlists him to help her with kissing lessons, because for some reason, he’s twitching when she says she’ll ask someone else. Finn finally agrees to these kissing lessons.

I’m not joking y’all.. All I could see in my head was this. This is honestly how I pictured this whole scene going and I was ready to giggle.

I was just waiting for it to be awkward because of the inner monologue of both of them. They even set out rules for this whole kissing lesson. So imagine my surprise when it ended up like this.

Of course, I was completely dumbfounded but holy guacamole on a chip. It was hot, it was very hot and all they did was kiss! Wait, hold on, let me take a moment to fan my face….. Okay then! I expected it to be something, but these two practically implode and it takes them both by surprise.

Instantly these two started fighting an attraction that just was not going to stop. What do you do when you’re suddenly attracted to your best friend, who is also your roommate? Finn and Scarlett are not the norm. I’ll tell you that much, they decided it couldn’t happen again. Let the angst fest begin!

They have a lot to work out and work through. Issues pop up, you have a quirky cast of co-stars that can be downright hilarious. Scarlett’s mother in particular is a gem. She had me in horrified gigglefits. Over all, a four star read, and one I’d highly recommend.

MY RATING:

4 star
