So, I had a full day planned, full of writing reviews and what not, with a side of reading the next ARC in my pile. Then I realized tonight is the Perseid Meteor Shower. I know I’ve mentioned before that I live in the boonies, or if I haven’t, well now I have. To explain that, I live in the backside of the middle of nowhere. We have no street lights, we have big huge open skies and it’s perfect for things such as meteor showers.
Instead of tapping away at my desk today like I should have been doing, or lounging around the house reading, I was getting ready for this. It’s going to be picnic style outside with blankets, staring at the night sky for a few hours.
For those of you who don’t know about this meteor shower or having heard, it’s peak days are August 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th, with the best night being tonight. (12th/13th) For the U.S. where we are in the month means it’s perfect timing with how the sun is setting and the moon is rising. We’ll see one heck of a shower.
😀 That all being babbled out, go outside and look up at the sky! If you’re not in the U.S. you can still see this as well. Don’t rule out early evenings for meteors to fall either. Just get out there, park your backsides somewhere and wait.
Happy Wednesday, y’all!
Random update since I came inside for a few.
9:00 PM CST – “Is that one? Hrrm nope.”
9:08 PM CST – “Whoa! Did you see that?!”
10:00 PM CST – “Nothing to see here folks.”
10:30 PM CST – Slow moving (to us), distant meteors and a few meteors with tails randomly shooting across the sky.
11:00 PM CST – THE SKY IS FALLING! 😀
I’ll be heading back outside now. I feel like I’m going meteor fishing.
